Inspector General Creates Easy On-Line Registration Saving Time and Money for County Contractors And County Government

Cleveland, Ohio – Today, Cuyahoga County Inspector General Mark Griffin announced an on-line registration process for contractors doing business with the County.   Cuyahoga County contractors are required to register with the Inspector General every four years and undergo a background check.  Additionally, many contractors are required to submit registration fees and participate in ethics training. For example, contractors with annual aggregate County contracts exceeding $15,000.00 are required to submit a $100 registration fee.

“The new on-line system saves our County contractors time and money by allowing them to register, pay their registration fees, and complete their ethics training without leaving their offices,” said Inspector General Griffin.

Before this system, contractors had to print out paper forms and send in paper checks.  Our staff then re-copied the information from the paper forms into a records file.  The on-line system will save the County costly staff time, create for the first time a searchable database, and will reduce wasted paper for contractors and the County alike, said Griffin.

This year, the Inspector General expects nearly one-thousand registrations to all expire on the same day – December 31, 2015.  The online process is an important tool for handling those registrations.  “We want to make sure that every registration is taken care of quickly, completely and efficiently.  Paper forms make no sense,” said Griffin.   Similarly, the Inspector General expects to replace other paper forms in his office with on-line forms.

The Inspector General was appreciative of the programming expertise provided by Jeff Mowry’s I.T. team of Eric Paliwoda, Debbie Davtovich and Sergey Efraim.
