Increased construction costs in the second quarter of 2014 have contributed to U.S. construction spending reaching its highest point in about six years, foreshadowing possible cost increases ahead, according to a report from Rider Levett Bucknall. Strategies that can help builders avoid such increased costs "may include early procurement of key inputs, fast tracking of the project and increased focus on cost planning of the project," said Julian Anderson of Rider Levett Bucknall North America.
