CLEVELAND, Ohio – Downtown has a full-service supermarket and now, at long last, it's about to get its first large-scale public school.
After several years of debate and design, plans for a $24.2 million K-8 building for the Campus International School are ready for official city review and, as backers hope, approval.
The designs, made public late Tuesday on the city's Planning Department website, represent the Cleveland Metropolitan School District's eagerness to support the residential influx transforming the heart of the city.
"It's a way to plant our flag in confidence of the rebirth and growth of downtown Cleveland," Patrick Zohn, the district's chief operating officer, said Tuesday.
