Body

The Construction Employers Association recently gathered with CEA Board members, industry leaders, and staff to honor one of the most respected figures in our industry's history, dedicating the newly named Jim Mirgliotta Patio at CEA headquarters.

Jim Mirgliotta is being recognized for a lifetime of distinguished service, leadership, and dedication to the union construction industry. Over more than 75 years, Jim earned the respect of colleagues, labor partners, and competitors alike through his unwavering commitment to integrity, safety, and excellence.

As principal owner of Forest City Erectors and a longtime leader within the Construction Employers Association—including serving as Chair of the CEA Board from 1995 to 1998—and as President of the Steel & Iron Contractors Association from 1989 to 2003, Jim helped shape industry standards, strengthen labor relations, and champion safer working conditions for generations of tradespeople.

In 2016, Jim was inducted into the inaugural class of the CEA Hall of Fame, receiving the Guardian Hall of Fame Award in recognition of his lasting impact on both the Association and the industry.

While Jim's professional accomplishments are significant, those who know him best often point to the qualities that defined his leadership: genuine care for others, generosity, loyalty, and a willingness to mentor and support those around him. Throughout his career, he has uplifted colleagues, strengthened friendships, and helped develop future industry leaders, becoming not only a respected professional, but a trusted friend to many.

The patio dedication serves as a lasting tribute to those qualities. Designed as a place for gathering, conversation, and connection, the Jim Mirgliotta Patio reflects the camaraderie, friendship, and sense of community that Jim fostered throughout his life and career.

As board members and staff gathered to celebrate the occasion, the dedication served as a reminder that true leadership is measured not only by accomplishments, but by the positive impact made on others. Jim's legacy continues to inspire the construction industry and the many individuals whose lives and careers he has touched.

Congratulations, Jim, on this well-deserved honor and lasting legacy.
